Design and sew your own bingo bag
If you love bingo and visit halls often to socialize with fellow players, you’re going to love this little project that will make you the envy of your friends. It’s cute, functional, and lets you show the world your support to the oldest game in history that is still being played for hours on end by casual gamers.
Bingo players have always carried with them a small bag to have a neat storage space for their daubers and other personal stuff. Unfortunately, with the boom of online gaming in the past few years, many of these players have stopped going to halls, and instead use their smartphones to play. It can be hard to compete with online gaming, what with the comfort that it gives and sales offers that gaming providers give during the off season. Nevertheless, some still prefer socializing while playing so they go to the bingo actual halls, and this little sewing project is dedicated to them.
Introducing THE ultimate bingo bag
Sewing it is easy as all you need are three kinds of materials: a string, bias tape, and a fabric of your choice. The complete steps can be found on cutoutandkeep.net, but here’s a summarized version of the steps.
Step 1:
Create a pattern for the inside of the bag by following this specs:
Measure 14″ x 21″. Then, cut.
Measure a 1/2″ seam allowance on both sides.
Measure every 2″ and draw a line in.
Measure 7 1/2″ from the bottom and draw a horizontal line.
Draw 1/2″ seam allowance on the bottom.
Create a pattern of the outside of the body by following these specs:
Measure 7 1/2″ x 41″. Then, cut.
Measure 1/2″ seam allowance on both sides.
Draw lines after every 4″ in order to show the line placement.
Create a pattern for the bottom: Use a protractor to get a 7″ circle.
Step 2:
Cut out your pattern. Then, draw lines on the outside of your fabric. Make sure to draw lines every 4″, and start counting only after the seam allowance. Do the same with the inside fabric but use 2″ instead of 4″.
Step 3:
Sew bias tape at the top area of the fabric. Then, align the inside fabric to the lines you made on the outside. Sew vertically and reinforce. Close the bottom by folding and sewing with a 1/2-seam allowance. Then, sew the seam of the bag.
Step 5:
Pin and sew at the bottom. Then, turn it inside and out and start sewing bias tape. Finish the bag like a drawstring.
