Sophie Nieto-Munoz wrote a short article about The Solar Sewing Rover Project, and the artist behind it. Artist Paul Nosa invested a year in planning the project and two more months building a solar-powered sewing machine. Paul Nosa used Singer CG590, and it is now powered by a solar-panel, and a bicycle to provide energy, as well as a 12-volt permanent fixed magnetic motor, and a 12-volt deep cycle marine battery. The Singer CG590 is a sewing machine designed for heavy-duty use. The Singer CG590 was designed to sustain heavy-duty use while accommodating the various needs of a professional sewer. However, this machine can still be used by a beginner sewer, as it is an entirely mechanical sewing machine.
Sophie Nieto-Munoz explains that Nosa’s artistic talents enable him to draw by sewing. She suggests providing him with a scenario in five words or less. Then climb on to the bicycle to power his sewing machine, and he will illustrate a patch you can take home. Paul will bring his Solar Sewing Rover Project to the Hunterdon Art Museum’s Toshiko Takaezu Terrace in New Jersey on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free, and everyone is welcome…
